Robotech!

If you haven't done this yet, please go here first: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/rrpgt/robotech-rpg-tacticstm; or if the link doesn't work, try www.kickstarter.com and search for ROBOTECH.

Why am I blogging about this?  It's because this is an opportunity to help get a miniatures wargame that has been in hibernation for 20 years out into the open.  This is the granddaddy of most modern anime and big robot shows.  I won't debate that other, more notable, anime titles that came before Robotech, but the influence on American audiences, good or bad, was helped by this 85 episode epic.

Let me get to the point, there are giant 50 foot tall aliens riding in armored ostriches invading the Earth to recover their lost space battlefortress.  Earth scientists have reversed engineer the alien technology to help create the ultimate fighting weapons against 50 foot tall aliens, 50 foot tall walking tanks.  In support of these "Destroids" is a mobile, aerial support craft, the "Veritech;" an aircraft that has multiple transformable modes to become the ultimate skirmisher/flanker for the Destroids.  So obviously, the Veritechs became the stars of the show and the most dramatic space opera involving transforming aircraft took to the afternoon airwaves in 1984.

This cartoon hit spawned many things: role playing games, video games, sequels, DVD movies, and the hint of a live-action movie with Tobey Maguire involved.  The one thing that wasn't created was a tabletop wargame based on the franchise.  Until now.

This Kickstarter has been funded.  The game rules aren't out yet, but if you do a YouTube search, you should be able to see an Adepticon 2013 demo of the basic rules as of April 2013.
I do recommend that you, the reader, take a moment and check out the kickstarter for this game and get in on the early investment.  There's plenty of goodness to come, and hopefully the next 2-3 sagas will be developed and we'll see the Southern Cross Army and the return of the Robotech Expeditionary Force.

Now back to your normal blog.
