Anaheim trip

I was able to visit 2 game stores while spending time at the House that Disney built.

I wandered down to the GW LA Bunker. It's been a couple of years since I've visited. Wow, the gaming area has changed. It is more medieval looking and the gaming area looks larger than ever. Considering that the Bunker is part of a strip mall, it's fairly large in comparison to a standard GW store. It would be able to handle a pretty sizable tournament with little problem. Along the walls are display cases for players and staff to show off their skills. This includes a section on Golden Daemons, tourney trophies won, and selected armies. Dave Taylor's Legio Custodes was on display in one of the cases. This army was won as part of a charity auction. I wasn't impressed by their available stock of FW and Specialist Games (as in nonexistent). With that change in store policy, this may have been my last Battle Bunker visit.

Brookhurst Hobbies has been a staple for many years in this region. Their selection of hobby items is extensive. Amazingly, I picked a good time to visit because of their sale. I'll post the bounty at a later date. They've also expanded their store area and reduced their gaming area size. In addition to gaming, they support other hobbies like model building, dioramas, airbrush painting, etc. The staff wasn't all that friendly, but they are really there to help the non-regular and not trade tales. There was more warmth towards the regulars.

One store that I won't get a chance to check out, but I highly recommend a stop at, is The War House in Long Beach. It's gaming nirvana with their huge selection of long ago games. Miniatures of all kinds and publishers can be found here too.

Next stop: Captain Nemo's in San Luis Obispo.
