Hobby time: Alten Ashley

For Christmas this past year, I went with my standard gaming gifts to friends.  Typically, this meant getting a blister of a model and letting them build and paint them.  Not a problem for most of the friends.  However, one friend prefers the gaming and less about the hobby portion.  As a challenge to myself, I took it as a chance to build, paint, and base a one-off for his gift.  Picking a model for his army was tough, not knowing what was in his collection, with a focus on Cygnar and some mercenaries.  I decided on the Minion Mercenary Alten Ashley, hoping he hadn't picked it up yet and that it would be useful at tournaments.

Warmachine Update

Here's a quick update to my Cygnar warband. It's about a 15pt force; I'll need to check to see what it acutally is. This is the metal starter box version.

Cygnar Warband

Cygnar Warcaster Commander Coleman Stryker

For those wondering why he's blond, I went with the look of Edward Elrich from the anime, Full Metal Alchemist. It seemed appropriate as a theme.

Warmachine - Cygnar

So I should really work on Resolution #2 before I get to any of the other Resolutions, but I just needed to paint. Here's my Cygnar faction (Resolution #3):

Cygnar Lancer Light Warjack

Cygnar Charger Light Warjack

Cygnar Ironclad Heavy Warjack

So this is the start of my Southlanders to take on all those Khador factions.

Warmachine Projects

I bought two battle boxes for Warmachine. The plastic models are amazing, really nice quality sculpting and they have some weight to them. I started painting up both.

Here's the first battlebox. I'm planning the same color scheme as the models I did earlier, that means white with red on the shoulder pads.

Here's the other battlebox. The two models in front are pretty much done. That's what the entire army will look like when I'm done.

I'll see if I can post a battle report once all these guys are painted up.
